Building Hope for Mothers in Kirumba, Kyotera District

In Kirumba, Kalisizo County, access to quality maternal health care remains a pressing challenge. While over 95% of mothers attend at least one antenatal visit, only about 60% complete the recommended four visits, and many still deliver at home due to distance, limited facilities, and lack of skilled care. Uganda’s maternal mortality ratio stands at 189 per 100,000 live births, but rural areas like Kirumba face even higher risks.
To bridge this gap, we are constructing a modern maternity health care facility designed to bring lifesaving services closer to mothers and children in the community. The new center will provide:
-
Safe delivery rooms equipped for normal and emergency cases.
-
Skilled birth attendants available around the clock.
-
Comprehensive antenatal and postnatal care.
-
Referral linkages to Kalisizo Hospital for advanced support.
This project is more than bricks and mortar—it is a commitment to saving lives and reducing maternal and infant deaths in Kyotera District. Once completed, the facility will empower mothers with accessible, reliable, and dignified care, ensuring that no woman in Kirumba has to risk her life giving birth.
